Ar an leathanach seo
- Three chairs were placed on the length of the kitchen - one in the middle and one at each end. On these was placed a ladder. On this ladder were placed about twenty sticks - six candles to every stick. Then a large sized pot of lard tallow and water was put on the fire to boil. This was kept boiling while the work lasted. The wick used was untwisted thread which was greased so that the boiling liquid would take to it. The wicks were dipped into the boiling liquid then placed on the ladder to soak. When cold they were again dipped. This process was continued until the candle was the required thickness. Another form of candle making. Rushes were pulled and peeled and dipped in grease.
