Bradshaw and Dwyer are the most common names. The houses are slated. They were more plentiful in former days but there is not trace of them to be seen now as they were thatched and the walls were mud.
There was a wood near the village long ago but it is now cut down except for a few trees. It was never replanted. The Gurtard river is a quarter of a mile from the village and there is a pond about half a mile from it.
