by the east and returning by the west. He follows a well defined track while doing so. This round is the most difficult of all as parts of it are over marshy soft land. It is well over an Irish mile in length. The old people say it is two thousand four hundred yards. The rosary and hitary?? of the blessed virgin are supposed to be recited three times in the course of this round. when the blessed well is reached the pilgrim must wash his feet (with water taken from the lake) at the trough situated outside the blessed well for that purpose. He then takes another drink of water from the blessed well and goes to rest for a few minutes (sitting on the seats provided for that purpose as described previously). He then puts on his stockings and bots as his devotional exercises have been completed.
