Garland Sunday:-
It falls on the last Sunday in July. On that Sunday some people go on parade to Saint Bridget's Blessed Well.
St Stephens Day:-
It falls on the 26th of December. On that day the boys go round from house to house gathering money. They carry an ivy or holly bush decorated with ribbons of different colours. They also say a little poem.
The wren the wren the king of all birds
St Stephens Day was caught in the furze
Up with the kettle and down with the pan.
Give us our answer and let us be gone
We followed this wren five miles from home
Through hedges and ditches and down to Clahanmoss [?]
We brought her home in a holly bush
A bunch of ribbons by her side
And the Cloonadrum boys to be her guide.
New Year's Day:-
It is the first of the New Year. Sods shall not be dug on that day. On that morning a man should go into his(continues on next page)
