  1. 1. Long ago the people suffered terribly with the English laws. No priest could say mass except in hiding places. In this parish of Tenure in a place called "The Cavan there are three caves and one Mass Rock. The caves are situated under the farm yard of two families, Owen's and Mc Cullough's. The Mass Rock is at the end of a bog in the middle of the rocks.
    2. On the land of Gaulstown in a field called Tobernelsha is another Mass Rock. The Chalice and the priest's cap are cut out on the stone.
    3. In the parish of Fieldstown on the land of Brownstown is another Mass Roock where Blessed Oliver Plunket used to say mass. He was caught in Brownstown and brought to prison.
