    bring good luck on milk.
One time a man was asked to move an old stile that hadn't been used for years, but he refused to meddle with it and he said God knows who uses it when you are asleep.
Some people now, still refuse to cut grass or hedges on a fort or lios for fear of the fairies. When women were putting down settings of eggs they used to make a cross on them with a burned stick in order to bring good luck.
Once there was a man and when he was milking he never minded whether he let some of the milk over the edge of the pail or not. He used to say that once there was a farmer and one evening when he was passing a fort or lios with his cows and he heard a baby crying and immediately he heard a woman answering, "Dont cry a leanabh, the cows are going in, I will soon have milk for you. The farmer told his men to be sure not to spill a drop of milk that evening. The men did so but when they were going into the dairy one of them stumbled and fell. The whole pail of milk was spilled and it was believed that the fairies got it.
