- The care of our farm animals.We have horses at home and they do alot of work on the farm. We get milk from the cows. As well as horses and cows we have got sheep, hens and chickens, and dogs and cats. The cows have not got names but the horses have. We say "ho-up when driving the cows in and out of the stable, and we say "suck: suck; suck to the calves.
The cow house is not called anything but a cow-house in this district.
The cows are tied to the manger by their neck with chains. The chains are not home-made. They are bought in a sho. There are two sorts of horse-stables. One of them is only for one horse and he has not to be tied, but their is a bigger stable, it is meant for two horses and it is divided into two parts.
The horses mostly get hay to eat. They are shod in the village but if an old shoe comes off it is put on at home, and their hair is always clipped at home.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
