- There were many old funeral customs in this district. The old women used to caoin over the corpse out of sympathy for the dead person's friend.
If a person met a funeral in the road he would turn back and go part of the way with it.
When they would be going on a long journey they used to carry the coffin on their shoulders. When a person died in a town-land the neighbours ceased work until the corpse was buried.
- When a person dies he is waked and alot of people come in the next night to the wake. When they are all in they begin smoking and snuffing. Somebody is left to watch the dead body all night long. Next day the body is brought to the chapel in a hearse. The next day the people come and they leave offerings on a table for the repose of his soul. He is then brought to the grave-yard in a hearse.
