- PALM SUNDAYOn Palm Sunday we bring home palm which has been in the Church. We take off all the small leaves and with the bare stem we make a cross and tie it with fine twine across the middle. We hand this over our bed. Some people put it over every door in the house.CANDLEMASOn Candlemas Eve people in the country make a cross of rushes and hang it up over the front door.
On Candlemas Day we all go to the Chapel for blessed candles. When we come home we light them and make the sign of the cross on some part of our inside clothes with the grease from the candle.CHRISTMASAll the country people put candle in their windows on Christmas Eve
Nobody puts locks on their doors on Christmas night.
No holly should be burned before 6th January.
No holly should be left up after that date or there will be a devil at each point of each leaf.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
