   Every Christmas, my Uncle Charlie hangs a branch from an oak-tree in the byre to bring luck to the cows.
   My mother milks the cows, she sits on a three-legged stool, and the cows stand very quietly for her.
   My Uncle takes care of the horses, he gives them hay four times a day. He gets them shod in the forge, and he clips them himself in the Summer, and sells the hair to people going round.
   We have ten pigs at present. They are very hard to feed. My mother boils the food for them outside in a house. We keep the pigs for two months and send them to Donnelly's in Dublin; a lorry calls for them. Sometimes we get a good price for them.
   My Mother keeps a hundred hens. She gets three quarters
