- There are a great many stories told about churning and this is one of them:-
At a place called Grange-Beg about four miles from Killucan there lived a family named Gibson. Each morning these people used to get up very early to churn and have fresh butter for the breakfast. The butter would not come on the churn. Some one told them to send for Conor Sheridan. This man lived near Old-Castle. He came and told them to bind the churn with chains and put the colter of the plough in the fire and as the colter was heating the butter was coming on the churn.- Bailitheoir
