- The ordinary herbs which grow in our gardens and fields are very useful and were very much used as medicine in the days of our grandmothers. Of late years people depend largely on doctors and medicine obtained in the chemists but there are still some uses to which they are put.
Dandelion is a good blood purifier. It can also be made into a wine by putting the heads of the dandelion in water and boiling them. Sugar and brewers yeast are added. It is then strained and bottled. Ivy leaves can be used for taking out stains. The leaves are boiled in water and the stains brushed with the water.
