- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)In some towns there is a pig Fair held before the cattle fair and also in other towns there are special Horse fairs held. There are also Sheep Fairs at which no other Animals only sheep are sold. Some towns have fair greens into which all the stock to be sold are put when they are brought into the fair. They are very safe in those fair greens as there is a high wall around the green. The owner of the green Charges Custom for each beast bought or sold in it. Lorry are used now for taking cattle long distances from fair to fair. Formerly the cattle or sheep were driven by men called "Cattle Drovers".I heard this from my Grandfather aged 76 years, John Morgan, Cloonmacart, Drumlish, Co.
