- The present mill in Gaigue was built by a land lord named Mc Conkey. Before that there was an old thatched mill the Irish sharpened their pikes on that mill preparing for the Battle of Ballinamuck. The stone that they sharpened the pikes on is now over a well in middle of Gaigue belonging to people named Fitzsimons. The pikes were sharpened by letting the water to the wheel. Then the wheel went round, with the water and it brought round the mill stones so the pickes were sharpened.
