  1. Long ago there were no ditches. There were only landmarks separating one farm from another.
    There was a man named Tom Dags herding in Cartonfree. One day he saw a leipreachan or fairy. He often heard the people say if you could catch a Leipreachan that he would tell you where there was money. Tom ran after the Leipreachan and caught a hold of him and asked him for a pot of gold The little man looked at him and said - "back a fire" Dags. Dags looks behind him and saw no fire. But when he turned again the Leipreachan was gone. So Tom got no money. Tom went home and told what had happened & they said "you are a fool" "What made you take your eyes off him till he told you where the gold was.
