Severe Weather
It is quite common at the present day to hear people talk of "the big Snow' and 'the Big wind'
Me such Big snow occurred in this Area in the year 1808.
The Snow was so heavy that people had great difficulty in Keeping up food supplies.
The Potato pit was the great friend in need / but it took a lot of cutting & digging before people could get even to the nearest pit. Anyone's pit was ? for the period while the snow lay heavily on the ground. Town lands were completely isolated from each other and it was the custom to dig & shovel their way through from one town,(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
