- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)potatoes are scuffled and sprayed and then there is nothing done with them. When they are fit to eaten we dig them in small quanties with a spade, in June, July, August and September. When all the potatoes are to be taken out of the fround in October we use a digger. This digger is a thing with spikes sticking out of it, it is drawn by two horses. When picking the potatoes people help one another also. The best place to sow potatoes is in the ground in which barley was grown the year before. This is the shape of our spade and of a Kerry spade which are used in Co. Wexford.-Drawing -Front and side views of the Wexford spade and the Kerry spade.
