    The most harmful weeds on the farm are chick-weed, sally-weed, thistles, nettles, docks, praiseac, spunk, tansey, "Crú-préacáin", yarrow, kecks, ground-ivy and robin-run-the-hedge, buacalán and grounsel.
    Chick-weed, tansey, praiseac, buacalán and thistles spread rapidly.
    Ground-ivy and thistles impoverish the soil.
    Thistles, chick-weed and black heads grow on good land.
    Spunk, docks and nettles are usually found on poor land.
    The water in which primrose leaves are boiled cures burns or scalds as also does the water in which the bark of the elm is boiled.
    The sap of the dandelion cures warts. The milk from dandelion stem cures consumption.
    Dock leaves cure the sting of a nettle. Garlic cures the "pick" in chickens and turkeys. Boil the garlic and chop it up for them.
    Garlic is also used as cure for black leg in calves.
