- Weather Lore
There are numerous signs to indicate the sort of weather we are going to have. When we have a very res sun-set with a tinge of purple in the clouds it is a great sign of fine weather. A coppery or yellow sun-set indicates rain. When the swallows fly low they also indicate rain. It is also a sign of bad weather to see the smoke from the chimneys come puffing to the ground. Some people say when the cat sits with her back to the fire, we are going to have a snow storm. When the wild geese fly from the nrth to the south they also indicate snow.
