- Superstitions and Old BeliefsThere are many old beliefs still held in the locality. The black cat is of course considered lucky. While to meet a red haired woman is unlucky. In many houses they nail up a horse shoe at the back of the door to bring good luck. When going or returning from a journey they say it unlucky for a cat to cross your path. The magpie is also considered very unlucky. Here is a rhyme:-"One for sorrow,
Two for joy,
Three for a wedding,
Four to die,
Five for silver,
Six for gold,
Seven for a secret,
Never to be told".(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
