The smith shoes horses and donkeys. He used to shoe cattle in olden days. he used a hammer,nails,pincers, rasp and knife in his work.
The smiths make farm implements such as ploughs and harrows. They made pikes for the rebellion of 1798. I do not know how they made them.
The smith shoes young horses and works on wheels in the open air. This work is done in the forge yard.
Forge water is supposed to cure warts, and, if given to dogs it will cure them of fits.
The smiths were always looked upon as being very strong men. The forge is always a centre for story-telling
