- About fifteen years ago a fire broke out at Mr Spain's house in Shinrone. When the fire broke out Mr Spain and Mrs Spain was in Roscrea. Soot was smelt for three days before the fire broke out.
One night it broke out fiercely A men were rushing here and there getting out furniture out through the windows, but all the furniture was not saved the chimney took on fire first and it took fire to the thatch the whole house was burned to the ground.
