- Long ago in the early ages there on the left bank of the Slaney in Ballymurphy a giant named Daniel Owen.He was so strong that he left the imprint of his fingers on a rock which he was lifting. His large castle was built on the side of the hill overlooking the river but now there is nothing left of it but the rocks strewn over the hillside. There is one very big rock which is supposed to roll down to the river every three years at Easter and under which is hidden a gold knife and fork. Daniel Owen made his living robbing travellers and before he died he hid his ill-gotten gains in the middle of the hill. There is a little hole in the side of the hill facing the river which is supposed to lead to a tunnel at the end of which is burried the treasure. No one has made any attempts(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
