- Long ago in Hacketstown there was a thatched church where Lenistons cottage is now. The people used to go and thrash their corn in it, and travelling people used go in for the night. Some priest got it shut up. Where the church is now was once a barrack and this priest made it into a church. Some of the stones of the old church were there for a long time but now they are gone.
