- There are many objects used in the house for special purposes such as Saint Bridget's Cross. It is made of rushes in the shape of a cross and it is made to keep the house from being burned. On Palm Sunday the Palm is distributed to the people. The shamrock is the of Éire and the thistle is the emblem of Scotland.
