- Nettles are a good cure for measles. Take the leaves off them and make tea with them. If anyone got the sting of a nettle and he rubbed it with a "docken" leaf it would cure it.
Thistles grow on good land and rushes grown on bad wet land.
"Bind weed" grows on good land. A yellow flower comes on it in the Summer times.
Hemlock grows along the backs of ditches and it is very poisonous.
Crowfoot and Alexandra are good for pigs and once they grow in a garden they cant be got out of it.
House leek is another weed which is a good cure for sore eyes. When it was growing on a house, that house was supposed to be safe from being struck with lightning.
Orange lily roots are good for a poultice. Wash the root, pound it and boil it in oaten porridge and put it on the "fester".
Dandelion is good for a bad stomach. Stew it and put the liquid in a bottle and take a glass of it every morning fasting.
