- Thomas McGoldrick of Clohoge, Swanlinbar was the local poet.
He composed a poem on the first Tenant Right meeting which was held in Cavan in 1869. This was the first verse and my informant had forgotten the remainder

A gentleman of noble birth
Great Councillor Maguire
The ruling star of Swanlinbar
Long live his noble fame
In history you'll plainly see
Lords of his race and name
And the annals of his pedigree

Michael Maguire of Roscaw Kinawley was a poet and he was also the last of the hedge schoolmasters. There was a police Sergeant in Kinawley who gave Michael much annoyance. On his departure(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
