The implements the smith uses at work are, the anvil, the hammer, the pincers and the vice. He shoes horses and asses. He mends ploughs, harrows and other farm implements. None of the forge work is done in the open air. There are no local beliefs with regard to the forge water or to the sparks that fly from the red iron. The local smiths had no privelege at any time. They had no special power at any time. They were always looked upon as being very strong. There are no traditions that I have heard of connected with the local forges.- Bailitheoir
