Folklore.
Travelling Folk.
There are two classes of travelling people which visit our district namely tinkers gypsy. The tinkers are very poor and live in canvas huts on the road side. They generally sell wire brushers and light time ware while the (woman's) women folk beg from house to house for all kinds of food and are generally not very welcome. The gypsy (travelling) travellers come in caravans whenever big fair days are held. The women folk sell mats, flowers, and lace, while the men assist each other selling larger articles such as chairs, tables big and small. They generally remain for a few days. There are also travelling musicians who play the violin or accordian. They remain for one day. The people like to hear them.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
