- One evening in early Summer a man was coming from the fair of Muff and when he had started on his home-ward journey he took out his pipe and prepared to have a smoke but he was to be dissappointed as his matches would not light. He decided that he would go into the next house along the road. Before he had gone far he saw a small thatched cottage by the roadside and going to to the door said "God save all here" A womans voice from inside told him to come in.
He went in and saw sitting beside a large turf fire a middle - aged woman and a little boy aged about four years.
The man asked her if he could light his pipe(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
