  1. Old Ruins.
    There is a castle about a mile North of Bailieboro, This castle was built in the year 1629 and was surrounded by a wall and it was the residence of the Landlord of Bailiboro. In 1875 Lord and Lady Lisgar lived in it. There is a great big wood round it and no one is allowed to break off any of the branches of the trees. Once a little boy pulled off a twig of a tree and Lord Lisgar caught him and had him hung. In the morning the tree he was hung on was all blood and that day the tree fell.
    On another occasion a little boy was standing on the steps of the castle and Lord Lisgar shot him and the stone remains there get where the boy was shot and it is strained with blood. The mother of the boy cursed Lord and Lady Lisgar and hoped that they would never have any children to inherit their estates and her wish came true. There is supposed to be a ghost seen in this castle and the ghost was a rat jumped up on the table and turned into a serpent and went out through the keyhole. Another time a man was riding past the castle at night and a white
