- There was a big rain-and-thunder storm, about five years ago. A large area of land was flooded, and hay and corn were destroyed. The roads were torn up by the rain. The water got into the house of an old woman who was living alone and she had to be carried out to safety until the water subsided. There was a heavy snowfall a few years ago, and all the schools were closed for about a week. The winds had blown the snow into big heaps, some being six or seven feet deep. The motor cars could not go on the roads, during the snow, and many who tried, got badly stuck, and had to be dug out.
