- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)has give that power to His servants". Not long after the chief became a Catholic and was baptised. He had to leave his position but he did not mind that as he had learned a lesson about the christian. They came up the River Suir and turned the river a half a mile out from the town. The river used to run down near the Wood Road. They knocked down the abbey when they were turning the river. Where they turned the river is now called the Turn of Abbey. There is a bog where the river was before. The River Suir at this time flowed through the bog at Greenane. There is a story told in Clonmel that Brian Boru chased the Danes from Marlfield to Clonmel. He was encamped on the north side of Clonmel near the Boulick stream. They were massed down along the quay and their captain's tent was in Peddar's field. The day was hot and Brian's men has gone to swim. He himself was sitting on the bank of the stream when a fairy came and spoke to him and Brian asked him to overflow the banks and sweep to the Suir Danes. It did and the Danes were swept into the river and they were piled so high they caused the crack that still remains in Two-Mile-Bridge.
