    (1) The night of the Big Wind Jan 7th and 8th, 1839. Began during the night. Trees, houses, hay and straw blown down. People didnt know they own land in the morning.
    A few days before, animals were noticed to be very uneasy and restless. Birds, especially crows, were seen to be flying here and there making great noise.
    (2) The night of the Big Snow. Drifts piled 12 ft. high. People could not see out in the morning, had to dig a way out.
    Tracks had to be dug along the roads and places dug out for cars to remain whilst others were passing. Animals died in great numbers and birds were to be got dead in hundreds. Occurred about 60 years ago.
    (3) A great drought occurred in the Summer of 1887. It lasted from April to October. There was a little rain in September but cattle got very much thirstier after it. The oats that year was only about 6 inches in height. The ground was burned up and [?]. Still cattle held their own and there was not much mortality.
