- There are a lot of old forts around the district of Coolmeen. The Danes had the forts to defend themselves from the enemy. There is a fort in John Clearys place. This fort was built by the Danes. It is made of stone and mortar. In the middle of the fort is a huge hole and a flag covering it. There the Danes kept their implements. These implements were a stone hammer, and pincers tied together and a stone pipe. On the pipe was Danish(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
