  1. It is a well known fact in this locality that the big Wind of 1839 did a great deal of harm and even blew some of the coffins out of the graves in Drumgoon graveyard near Cootehill. This graveyard is situated near the top of a hill, and some of the coffins were buried on tops of roots of some trees. When the trees were knocked by the Big Wind the coffins were turned out.
    About years ago during the harvest time there fell such a shower of hail stones in this district that the grains crops were completely destroyed. The local farmers say that the grain crops were threshed that year by the big hail stones.
