"The smith and the forge"
In olden times the smith was next to the king.There are two forges in this parish but there is work carried on in one of them at present.Some time ago work was done in the two forges.The roof consists of of timber and "felt".The forges are situated near the road.The shape of the door is oblong.There is one fire-place in the forge.The fire is fixed on a high hearth made of cement.The bellows are attached to the hearth by means of a long piece of iron projecting from it.
There is a hole in the side of the hearth so that when you would draw a chain which would blow the bellows to light up the coal fire.The shape of the bellows resembles a person's heart.Some of the various implements used in the forge are:-the anvil,which is used to shape irons.the sledge is used to hammer somethings that are very strong.The "vice" is another implement and it is used to keep bolts steady while the smith is working on them.The bellows are used to blow up the fire and to (keep)(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
