- I heard this story from Mr MacNamara, coachman at Newgrove Tulla Co Clare. Mr McNamara is over seventy years of age, and has spent his lifetime around Tulla. He was born in Neagrove, Tulla, Co Clare. He says he heard the story from the old people.
There was a steward in Newgrove one time, and he told the workmen under him to sow wheat on a particular Saturday. This Saturday happened to be Saint Patrick's Day, and the workmen refused to work on a Religious Holiday.
Now, the Steward was undecided what to do. He had already prepared the ground for the wheat sowing on the previous Friday, and had decided on the sowing of the seed on the following day. He had not reckoned, at all that the men would refuse to work.
Being fearful that suitable weather would not continue until Monday, the steward himself sowed the seed on St Patrick's Day.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
