Colpoys, the commander of the English forces in occupation of the district at the time lived in Ballycar house. Colpoys had been told of the activities of the Dromoland servants, and one night at a party in the castle he informed the Lord. The lord questioned Moloney. Moloney told the lord that his servants were loyal to him, and that their membership of the organisation was a source of protection to him and his castle. The servant then told his master in order to ensure peace in the district to write at once to the authorities in Dublin Castle a request to have the military withdrawn. The lord did so, the military was withdrawn, and there was peace. (Mr. Sweeney)
