    Potatoes are grown on almost every farm at present. About two or three acres each year are sown under potatoes. Before the man of the house ploughs the ground he shakes lime or bag manure on it. Some years ago people used to sow potatoes in ridges but people do not sow potatoes in ridges now except in garden.
    When the ground is ploughed it is harrowed and tilled, until the clay is made fine. Then the plough is got and the drills are made. Long ago wooden ploughs were used very frequently but there only odd ones to be got now.
    Spades are not used now at the sowing potatoes except at ridges. Most people buy the spades in the shop.
