    with the potatoes. Times were hard then. The people were not fully fed. They would eat a great deal of potatoes at a meal. I heard of two men who were working at a widow-woman. She did not give them anything to eat until evening and she left them down a great heap of potatoes on the table . They had neither knife nor fork. They kept eating ever ever until they could not see one another with the heap of skins that were on the table. Men were half starved in those times.
