    It is considered unlucky to give out any article of iron, during churning operations.
    Some people in the Ballygar area take the cat a part of the way to town with them so that they will have good luck. There is one man, I know, who packs the cat in with pigs when he is starting out for the fair. He takes precautions against the cat's escape by taking a few ribs of his whiskers, so that even though the cat may disappear, he feels that his is secure in the possession of the charm in the cat's whiskers.
    The same man adopts the following little scheme for transferring his bad luck. When a beast
