  1. There are two Holy Wells found in this district. They are visited during Christmas and on the 15th of Aug. by many pilgrims.
    There is one holy well in Esker, and the water is put into tanks and blessed by the Redemptorist Fathers on twelfth Eve. The people have great faith in the healing powers of this water and come from all over the county to take it away with them. This water is not sprinkled like Holy water but given to animals or persons in their food.
    There is another Holy Well in the townland of Rahard convenient to the town of Athenry. It is about two
