- It is thought that as the Holy family were going through the Desert they met a woman with a baby in her arms. The child was all covered with leprousy. The Blessed Virgin took the child in her hands and the leprousy fell off. It is thought that the baby was the good thief on the cross.

- Near Knockdoe there is a well called "St Bernard's well. It is thought that there was a monastery there in the seventh century. St. Bernard went to Dublin for the renewal of his vows. He lost his staff and when he came back the other monks would not believe it was he that was in it. He went up to Knockdoe hill to pray and the hill split and his staff came up and also a well sprang up. People go there every year on the 10th of August.
