  1. As the most noted local heroes who lived around this district in former times was Jack Taffe who resided at Kingsfort the parish of Keash. He committed some of the most daring deeds of any man of his time. At one time he left his native home on horseback.
    (Whether the horse was his own or not is not known as he was not scrupalous in taking possession of other peoples property.) About sunset committed a robbery in Dublin fought twelve dewels on his return home with army officers each time killing his man & still had the horse left in a ditch on his own land before sunrise. This is only one of the many deeds he performed.
