  1. Off of the Waterloo Road there is a patch of waste land which is covered with ashes and grass. It is said that long ago when the men were not allowed to drill they used to come up to (come) this patch and drill there. The patch of land was then almost covered with furze bushes and trees and there was a bare grassy place in the grove of trees where the men used to drill.
    These men known as "Na Buachaillí Bána". This happened about the year 1820 and for some time after.
