  1. Cahermone Castle is built about a mile east of Midleton. It is only a few fields south of the Main Road to Youghal. It is near the railway line from Cork to Youghal. It was built by Barry Fitzgerald in the year 1182.
Some people say that it is haunted. It is said that a man hanged himself there long ago. He hanged himself with his hankerchief. Some people who were picking firewood found him and they got a terrible fright. One woman went for the police.

It is said that there is a treasure hidden in the castle garden but no one knows the exact spot where it is hidden.
