There is a hill a half a mile outside the town.
The hill is known as Smoker's hill. It is said that a man named Moloney lived on top of the hill.
He was a heavy smoker and the people put "Smoker" as a nick name on him and that is why that hill is so called.

There is a bye road outside the town. It is called the "borheen buidhe" because when the women used to be coming to town long ago they used to carry their butter as far as that without any shoes. There is a stream by the side of the road.
The women used wash their feet there and the brink of the stream ws all " dóib 'uide " and they called it the " borheen buidhe ".
