  1. The following are the holy wells in my locality: - St Bride’s Well at Clonfad, Co Roscommon, is about six miles from Carrick-on-Shannon.
    Tradition holds that this well changed its original position as a seeming protest to the sacriligious use to which the blessed water was put when a pagan woman washed her dog in it. Some give to understand that the well was once situated in Kildare and moved to Clonfad, to a spot under a tree, where a man was praying while others hold that it moved from one place in Clonfad to another.
