Ar an leathanach seo

  1. The five cows which we have at home are known by five different names - The big cow, the Butsy cow, the Polly cow, the Black cow and the White-head cow. They have to get fodder and turnips every night and morning. When driving the cows in and out I say "how, how, how", to them.
    If I want to call cows to me I say "Prog, Prog, Prog" and they come. There are five calves at home, the red, the black, the blue, the Kerry and the Daisy. The calves have to be fed similarly to the cows. The cowhouse is a double byre and there is a wide group in the centre. The cows are tied by putting a stake down in the ground and fastening a chain to it. This chain is put around the cows' necks to tie them. The stakes are home made. There is another way of tying cattle:- by putting their heads in between
